Journalists of Mediterranean, Otranto gives hospitality to the 5th edition of the prize.

OTRANTO (Le) – It’ s starting officially the 5th edition of the International Competition “Giornalisti del Mediterraneo”. The city of Otranto will give hospitality, in the evocative medieval scenery, to the awards ceremony, which will take place Saturday, September 7th ,2013. The event organized by the Association “Terra del Mediterraneo” in partnership with the municipality of Otranto and Europuglia, portal of activities and projects promotion of Mediterranean Service and Puglia Region, enjoys of institutional support of Parliamentary Assembly of Mediterranean, of the Ambassy of Romania, Netherlands, Croatia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, of the Province of Lecce, of the Consular Corps of Puglia, Basilicata and Molise, and Isiamed Institute, as well as, and of European Journalism Centre.
The Competition will be articulated in two sections: Arab spring and Mediterranean; Prize of “City of Otranto” for the Exploitation of Historical and Cultural Heritage. Works must arrive within and no later than June 15th 2013.
From the 1st edition, the Competition has listed, between candidates and winners, journalists of the most important national and international newspaper names as Corriere della Sera, L’Espresso, Panorama, Ansa, RaiNews24, La7, Rete4, Il Giornale, TGR Rai, Il Messaggero, Italia Oggi, Marie Claire, Europa, Vanity Fair, Io Donna, Il Riformista, I Viaggi di Repubblica.
“The event of this year – the journalist and the event organizer Tommaso Forte explains – is a summary of an ambitious project, of which the city of Otranto is integral part of. Otranto, through is sea, was theatre of human events and solidarity. Not only. It’ s, above all, land of welcome, hospitality and brotherhood. Therefore, the event this year starts from a territory in which social and human value is primary”.
